2005-05-30 [Avarion]: Good quality fake fur is made of very soft acrylic fibres. I have a fake fur coat and I swear it feels like the real deal, sans the guilt factor. If you look at fake fur closely the fibres come to a blunt stop like when you get your hair cut. Real fur, if it hasn't be sheared or trimmed, will come to a very, very fine point like hair that's been growing out for a while. Both fake and real fur moults. Real fur tends to acquire a musky smell after a while whilst fake fur doesn't.
